can i get uk insurance with french license and address?

Question by Lucy K: can i get uk insurance with french license and address?
I am a UK citizen but live in france with a French driving license. I am currently working in the UK and commuting back to france. I just bought a UK registered car and went to get insurance but have been told i can't get insured because I own a French property - even though i'm living in England currently. They said the license is not a problem but the fact I have a house in France is. Is this correct?
