im buying my first car, used. and all i have knowledge from are from the internet.

i live in California.

when i see tv commercials, i often see the buyer being able to purchase their insurance when they are on the CAR dealer.

my question? when is it do you get insurance? BEFORE OR AFTER YOU PURCHASE A CAR?
also when getting quotes online, you have to add the car that you OWN, so im guessing you have to buy the insurance after
