How do I get temporary License plates?

Question by Lucky Miroku: How do I get temporary License plates?
I am currently reside in FL for school for most of the year, but I go back home to NY in the summer. I want to buy a car that is in NY from either a private seller or a dealership. How do I get temporary license plates so that I can drive the car down to Florida to get it registered there? Also do I need to insurance to drive it down to Florida if so, would it be FL or NY insurance?
