Have you dealt with the financial ombudsman in a car insurance dispute?

Question by Mayomaiden: Have you dealt with the financial ombudsman in a car insurance dispute?
My insurance company seem to think I can replace a perfect 06 silver Panda
Eleganza for £5744. Had my car been two or three weeks older they would have had to replace it for the full market value.
Has anyone had any experience with the financial ombudsman on the subject of car insurance? Has anyone manage to encourage or forced an insurance company to play fair with them? Advise welcome and
