Driving with dealer plates?

Question by Checkmate: Driving with dealer plates?
I'm buying a car from this guy about an hour away, and originally I asked him to drive it to me, then I'll drive him home, since I'm not insured to drive it. He told me he has dealer plates (I assume because he lives with a mechanic), so does that mean I have temporary insurance through the garage, and can atleast drive it back to my house, and the DMV? I'm only 17 so my parents are making sure I'm not stuck driving an uninsured car or
